About me
Before anything else, I am entomologist. My first professional experience with insects started in high school when I interned at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. During my time with the insect zoo and butterfly pavilion, I used live specimen to engage the public (something I now do with my personal pets). After getting my bachelor's in biochemistry from Virginia Tech (with a minor in entomology, of course), this internship turned into volunteering and then a paid position. Seeking an extension position, I obtained a masters in Entomology from the University of Hawai'i. Now that I'm an educator for CSU Denver Extension, teaching kids about insects and nature is more than just a hobby!
